A private dining room is not just a restaurant table with a door on it. Done well, it is a completely different experience from the main dining room: a dedicated team, a menu written for the occasion, and a pace that you control. Done badly, it is an expensive room with the same menu as everyone else. Here is how to tell the difference.

Ask whether the menu is bespoke

The first question to ask any restaurant when enquiring about private dining is whether the menu is written specifically for your group or adapted from the main menu. At Chanterelle Plus, the Sala Chanterelle always gets a bespoke menu. Beatriz sits down with the client before the event to understand the occasion, the guests, and any dietary requirements. That conversation shapes the menu from scratch. If a restaurant cannot offer this, you are essentially booking a room, not an experience.

Think about the pace, not just the food

A business dinner and a birthday celebration require different pacing. A business dinner might benefit from a shorter menu with more time between courses for conversation. A celebration might want a longer, more indulgent sequence with a dramatic dessert at the end. Talk to the restaurant about what the evening is for. A good kitchen will adjust accordingly.

Confirm what is included in the price

Private dining pricing varies enormously. Some restaurants charge a room hire fee on top of the per-person menu price. Others include it. At Chanterelle Plus, there is no room hire fee for the Sala Chanterelle; the cost is the per-person menu price agreed in advance, plus beverages. Make sure you understand what you are paying for before you sign anything.

Book further ahead than you think you need to

The Sala Chanterelle is available on Sunday evenings and Monday nights, when the main dining room is closed. It books up quickly, particularly for December and for the period around Carnival. If you have a date in mind, enquire at least six weeks in advance. For December events, we recommend enquiring in October at the latest.
